Welcome to the Lighthouse Club in Dubai

The Lighthouse Club is an international organization with two principal objectives:

The first of these objectives is promote fellowship and co-operation amongst members in every respect.

The second, but equally important objective is to provide financial assistance to the unfortunate victims of accident or illness within the construction industry, and to their dependents where a fatal accident has occurred.

History of the Club

If you are currently looking for lighthouse memorabilia we are sorry but you have found the wrong website!!

The Lighthouse Club was founded in England in 1956. In Whitley Bay, England, there is a lighthouse called the Saint Mary's Lighthouse. It is said that after a construction exhibition in Whitley Bay a group of exhibitors got together for a social gathering at the Rex Hotel, which has a clear view of the lighthouse. A certain Eddie Ward decided it would be a good idea to form a club, which would meet regularly between exhibitions, to continue the goodwill and co-operation and the club was named after the Saint Mary's Lighthouse (Sadly, Mr. Ward died in 1993).

As the Club has grown, other branches have been established and there are now branches worldwide. In the Asia Pacific Region there are branches in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Macau, and Singapore.

Membership of the Lighthouse Club is open to all individuals and corporate bodies connected with the construction industry.

The Dubai Branch

The Dubai Branch was established in November 2004 and now has a large membership representing a wide cross-section of people within the construction industry.

Members enjoy a lively social calendar, with an Annual Dinner, Christmas Ball, Curry Nights, Chinese Dinner Nights and numerous other sports and social events organized throughout the year. See our newsletter and photo gallery pages to see some of the more recent social events.

In addition on the fourth Monday of every month , the ever-popular “Get-Together” is held at Dubai Offshore Sailing Club.

The Lighthouse Club in Dubai now has a Golf Society, which arranges regular events in Dubai and around the region.

Surplus funds raised from all social and sporting events are donated directly to the Lighthouse Club Benevolent Fund.
